GETTING STARTED

There are a number of opportunities for you to experience archery throughout the year.  In the Spring we have our annual fun day at Elizabeth Castle; in June we host the “Archery GB Big Weekend” open day and we support and host the annual Supershot Archery competition. During Winter,  we run indoor beginner’s courses and our Society offers a warm welcome to any visitors who attend society sessions.

For further information or to register your interest in a course contact us by e-mailing: courses@jas.org.je

COACHING & COURSES

If you are interested in receiving coaching as a beginner or intermediate archer, the Jersey Archery Society runs two or three beginner’s courses in the Winter indoor season. We offer the course to adults and juniors alike and we can assist able and non-able-bodied individuals with advanced notice.

You will receive tuition from qualified coaches for the duration of the course and ongoing support is available afterwards for novice archers to continue their journey. All equipment will be supplied by the society.

YOUTH PROGRAMME

To help cater for and develop our younger archers we have formed a youth team, known as the Eagles.  We are proud of our Eagles youth team, who have completed and won national youth events.  Our dedicated qualified coaching team ensures that younger members of the Society receive structured and progressive skills development, should they wish to take their skills further.

With dedicated Thursday and Saturday sessions, the Eagles programme ensures our younger archers shoot alongside the rest of the society and have opportunities to compete both locally and off island.

Fitness and Conditioning

The Society runs a number of other satellite initiatives including our weekly fitness and conditioning sessions, which offer members of all abilities a balanced hour of exercise aimed at developing core strength to aid our archery performance.

Equipment

The society holds a wide variety of bows and shooting equipment for the beginner and intermediate archer.  Enough to ensure your enthusiasm is catered for. Archery is an equipment sport and getting the correct bow suitable for you is very important.  Our fully qualified coaches will ensure that beginners are introduced to the sport appropriately.

English longbows, American Flat bows, Olympic Recurve and Compound bows are all available for society use.  Our coaches will match novice archers with society bows, carefully raising poundage and complexity as the confidence and skill grows.
